Modi Announces Aid of One Thousand Crore Rupees Interim Relief For Bengal After Cyclone Survey
After watching the devastated South and North 24 Parganas from the sky for two hours and after an hour-long administrative meeting in Basirhat, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately announced financial assistance of Rs 1,000 crore to the Mamata government.
He landed in an Air India flight from Delhi and visited the southern and northern 24 Parganas by helicopter. He was accompanied by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Governor Jagdeep Dhankar in a helicopter. In another helicopter were four Union Ministers Babul Supriya, Dharmendra Pradhan, Debashree Chowdhury and Prakash Sarenga. There were central and state officers.
Modi's first reaction to the loss of Ampan from the sky was worse than what was seen in the video. The Chief Minister briefed him on the situation. He also said that the amount of loss is several thousand crores.
He also said that it is impossible to build a new road. He held a meeting with administrative officials at Karmatirtha Bhaban in Basirhat at noon. There he immediately sanctioned assistance of one thousand crore rupees. He directed to hand over the advance account money to the state now. After the administrative meeting, Modi flew to Orissa.
