WHAT IS CYCLONE AMPHAN?
"The cyclonic storm ‘Amphan’ pronounced as UM-PUN has intensified into a ‘super cyclone’ and is expected to hit the West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts as a very severe cyclone with a wind speed up to 185 km per hour."
Hurricane Ampan is getting stronger and stronger. Ampan can fall from Digha in this state to any area between Hatia Island in Bangladesh. Ampan's strength will increase several times in the next 24 hours. According to meteorologists, Ampan will look like a 'Super Cyclone Storm'. The speed of rotation of this very strong cyclone can be up to 160 kilometers per hour.
The worst-hit areas are Digha, Mandarmoni, Sundarbans beaches and coastal areas. Raw houses can collapse due to the storm. There is a possibility of uprooting trees and electricity poles. Coastal residents are being evacuated as a precautionary measure to prevent casualties. The state administration is keeping an eye on the whole situation. Disaster response forces have been deployed in coastal areas.
There may be loss of cultivation. On Saturday, the Center is coordinating with the state in this regard. The issue of 'social distance' is being kept in mind in dealing with this catastrophic situation in Corona. The administration of the coastal districts has been asked to be ready on behalf of the state.
According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, Ampan is located above the West-Central Bay of Bengal. It faces north. In a few hours, it will take a turn and start moving north-east. Now Ampan is 60 km away from Paradwip. Its distance from Digha is 930 km, Khepupara in Bangladesh is 1050 km. It is likely to hit a speed of 155 to 185 kmph on Wednesday afternoon.
Even its rotational speed can go up to around 175 kmph. If Ampan falls to the ground at such a speed, then there is a possibility of terrible damage. Heavy rains are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday. The storm may fall in Manipur.
